Mayibuye Fishing is a Level 1 BEE company.

Founded by Boya Chetty in 1978, we started as a community based seafood wholesaler in Port Elizabeth, operating as Chetty's Fisheries. It wasn't until 2001 that the name Mayibuye Fishing was adopted. Soon after acquiring several subsidiary companies. 

In 2004 the vessel ELKE M was purchased and started operating out of Port Elizabeth harbour until 2025. 

 In 2026 we are proud to welcome two new vessels to our fleet: The BOYA operating in out of Port Elizabeth, and the SANTA PRINCESSA operating out of Cape Town.
